1. Classification of AOI

The full name of AOI is Automatic Optic Inspection, which is based on optical principles to detect common defects encountered in welding production. AOI is a new type of testing technology that has been developed in recent years, but it has developed rapidly. At present, many factories have introduced AOI testing equipment. AOI means that the position in the reproduction line is not used, and it can be divided into online and offline AOI. Although there is a division of labor, their working principles are the same.


①. On-line: It is an optical detector that can be placed on the assembly line and used at the same time as other equipment on the SMT assembly line. The rhythm is the same as that of other equipment in the production line, and can be placed in different positions on the production line according to the purpose of the inspection. On-line AOI adopts a 100% inspection method to achieve full inspection, with a high degree of automation. All inspections are automatically completed along with the assembly line. The level of ESD worries is low, because it is an automatic operation, and the inspection process basically does not need to consider this problem. The manual labor intensity of online AOI is also very low, and manual assistance is basically not required except for equipment programming. And there is no pollution.




②. Offline AOI: It is an optical detector that cannot be placed on the assembly line and used with the SMT assembly line, but it can be placed in other locations to detect the PCB board on the SMT assembly line. The off-line inspection method is random inspection or batch inspection. It has a moderate degree of automation and requires manual assistance to complete the inspection. ESD worries are high, because the inspection process requires the assistance of workers, and sensitive components need to be handled with extreme care. In the process of offline AOI use, each board needs to be manually put in for inspection, and needs to be manually taken out after inspection. Compared with the online AOI, the offline AOI will cause light pollution, and the inspector will be stimulated by the high-brightness light source in close proximity.



2. AOI structure

Whether it is online AOI or offline AOI, their structural principles are the same, usually composed of image acquisition, motion control system, image processing system and data processing system. Compared with other SMT equipment, AOI structure is relatively simple.
