Previously, a product of the company had the problem of the Board to Board Connector falling after being used for a period of time. We originally suspected that it was caused by a process problem in the SMT factory, but later the SMT processing factory provided evidence that the parts were dropped. The drop was not caused by the welding problem, but the stress caused the part to fall. Later, we strongly asked the customer to send the entire defective product back intact for analysis. It was found that every product with a connector drop had an appearance. There are multiple signs of falling from heights.


Although it has been proved that the drop of the linker is really caused by external stress, customers and company executives still require that our products must be further improved to strengthen their drop resistance level. After discussion, we think that we want to On the basis of some, to improve the drop resistance level of the product connector, there can be the following directions:

1. Increase the area of the solder pad on the circuit board, which can increase the amount of solder paste and strengthen the ability of the connector to attach to the circuit board.

2. Add buffer foam around the circuit board to reduce the amount of misalignment between the two circuit boards when they fall.

3. Paste foam double-sided tape between the two circuit boards to reduce the misalignment of the two circuit boards, but this seems to be unfavorable for the repair of the product.


4. Add epoxy glue to the solder feet of the connector to enhance the ability of the connector to attach to the circuit board.


Later, we chose to perform the fourth step first, adding epoxy glue to the solder feet of the connector, because we believe that the first two steps can contribute little to the improvement, and the third one will affect the future maintenance. As for the selection of epoxy resin glue, we chose "Cemedine" Super-X 8008, because this glue has been used in our other products.


Coat the epoxy glue on the solder feet of the connector. The epoxy glue in the photo is hand-applied with toothpicks, so it is a bit crooked. After the glue is proved to be useful, you should use a dispenser (dispenser). ) Come on!
